We’ve heard it time and time again, the biggest baseball player of the year was caught using steroids and everyone immediately labels him as a cheater. Why can’t this sort of thing happen on the internet?
….It can’t happen if people don’t know about it.
Baseball players are regulated, they have to pass tests constantly and have the press to worry about. This kind of thing doesn’t really happen online, there really aren’t any governing forces out there that publicly display who was caught using dirty SEO tricks.
Think of what would happen to dozens of internet marketers reputation if they were caught “cheating” and the findings were made public. It would be enough to ruin their career and make many internet marketers think twice about using blackhat SEO tricks.
Now there are tricks out there that internet marketers like to use that are on the brink of what I would call “cheating,” and one of these is EdwinSoft’s Bookmarking Demon. It is software that automates the bookmarking process by submitting your tags and link to the hundreds of social bookmarking websites.
The creator used article submission software to submit his articles to (yes we all know the answer) THOUSANDS OF DIRECTORIES, so it doesn’t suprise me that he’s trying to do the same to social bookmarking websites… I mean they’ve done the same thing for commenting on blogs, creating blogs, creating doorway pages, search engine submission, directory submission, rss submission, myspace friends… theres a lot that has been automated.
With Social Bookmarking Software on the lose we now get to add to the list of people that use automated software to spam the internet with their crappy websites just so they can get their worthless website to the top of what’s becoming even more worthless search results.
Just like baseball players try to get to the top, so do internet marketers, only thing is internet marketers can get away with using “steroids” without being labeled as a cheater, why? Because if the public doesn’t know then nothing happens, and if no one has any grip on ethics or moral values then it never ends.
